Biography[]
Birth[]
Poseidon was born by Rhea, but Cronus swallowed him, afraid of a child taking his throne. When Zeus saved his siblings from Cronus's stomach, Poseidon, like all the other siblings of Zeus, was freed. But this caused Cronus's anger and led to the Titanomachy.
Titanomachy[]
When ricked Cronus into vomiting up his siblings. Poseidon rallied with Zeus and his siblings, beginning the war against the titans called the Titanomahcy. The war lasted ten years, but they succeeded in overthrowing the titans, throwing them into the deepest pits of Tartarus. That's because Zeus freed the imprisoned Cyclops and Hekatonchires Uranus trapped. Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades drew lots to see who would rule each of Cronus' kingdoms, the sky, the seas, and the underworld. Zeus choice the sky, Poseidon was given the seas, and Hades was given the underworld. Poseidon was angered because Zeus claimed the heavens, seeing the handout of the seas as patronizing. His jealousy would lead him to clash with Zeus, and attempt to out due him in everything. Although Poseidon is one of the twelve Olympians, he rarely leaves his underwater palace, just like his brother Hades.
Gigantomachy[]
Later, they would defeat the Gigantes (also called Giants).
Athena VS Poseidon[]
Athena and Poseidon were wrestling onto who will rule over a city in Greece, which to Athena's victory was named Athens. Yet, they had to give gifts to the people, and they did so. Poseidon gave them sea water and a sea horse, which may have been very important to the people, but they had seen things like those before. What they hadn't seen was an olive tree, which Athena gave them, and so the civilians gave the names of the Athens to praise Athena.
Odyssey[]
Poseidon supported Troy during the Trojan War. When the Greeks won, due to Odysseus creating the Trojan Horse, Poseidon was enraged. He sent a storm that led Odysseus to other islands, then when they were traveling home again, he sent another storm who sent them to island of the Cyclops. Yet, the irony is that this event led Odysseus to the blinding of Polyphemus, angering Poseidon further, again trying to prevent Odysseus from returning home, which eventually failed and Odeysseus managed to get back to Ithaca.
