Pythia, better known as The Oracle of Delphi, or simply as The Oracle is a character in Greek Mythology. She débuts with her mention in 700 BCE. She is portrayed by Shohreh Aghdashloo and Jordyn Ashley Olson.
History[]
The Oracle of Delphi applied for a recent scholarship at the Temple of Apollo situated in Delphi. Apollo chose his priests/priestesses very carefully. When he told his appliers to get on a boat and set sail to the city of Knossos and he leapt into the ship in the form of a dolphin. Dolphin-Apollo revealed himself to the terrified Cretans, and bade them follow him up to the "place where you will have rich offerings". The Oracle of Delphi was eventually chosen from the rest of the priests.
Sometime later she finds herself back in Delphi at the Temple of Delphi, awaiting any visitors who may come with questions.
Prophecies[]
- The Oracle is said to get her information directly from Apollo and say it exactly how it is.
- The problem with these prophecies were that they were not intelligible.
- The gods speak different to us, so the way they blurt it out is different to the way the humans do.
- Fortunately, it would usually get the job done.
